The Official Visit of the Zone Chairperson of Zone 1, Region 1, Lion Nalaka Dinendra Sampath, PMAF, together with his lady, Lion Priyangi Dabarera, was held on 25 July 2026 at Hotel Kanchana, Minuwangoda.
Prior to the official proceedings, the Club Board Meeting was held to discuss the Club’s administrative and operational matters.
Following the Board Meeting, the Monthly Meeting commenced with the ceremonial welcome of the Zone Chairperson, Lion Nalaka Dinendra Sampath, PMAF, and Lion Priyangi Dabarera by the members of the Lions Club of Minuwangoda Circle (LCOMC). Soon after the welcome, the traditional oil lamp was ceremonially lit, symbolizing the commencement of the official proceedings and invoking blessings for a successful and meaningful meeting.
After the usual matters of the Monthly Meeting were concluded, the Zone Chairperson was formally invited to address the gathering by his sponsor into Lionism, Lion Susil Janaka.
It was a heartfelt and emotional homecoming for Lion Nalaka, as he returned to his own Club in his official capacity as the Zone Chairperson of the Zone to which his Club belongs. Addressing the members as his Lions family, he shared the vision and objectives of the District Governor, Lion P.K. Gayan Lakmal, PMJF, PMAF, JP, for Lions District 306 D5, together with the key priorities and objectives of the Region and the Zone.
He encouraged all members to unite in service, uphold the true spirit of Lionism, strengthen the Club through the induction of new members, and extend the reach of Lions service whenever possible. He further emphasized the importance of working together as one team to achieve greater impact in serving the community while continuing to build a stronger Lions family.
Several senior Lions also shared their thoughts and words of encouragement. As this was the inaugural Monthly Meeting under the newly appointed office bearers, they offered valuable guidance on fostering unity, working together to achieve the Club’s goals, serving the community with dedication, and cherishing the fellowship that lies at the heart of Lionism. They also encouraged the newer members to participate in District and Lions International Conventions, emphasizing that such experiences would help them appreciate the vast scope, global impact, and fellowship of Lions International, while inspiring them to grow as committed and effective Lions.
The meeting concluded with a fellowship session followed by dinner, bringing to a close a meaningful and inspiring evening of service, leadership, fellowship, and camaraderie.
